Lately I have often been annoyed by the following error message:
The selected report is not ready for viewing. The report is still being rendered or a report snapshot is not available. (rsReportNotReady).
This error message appeared in a particular report as soon as you changed a parameter at the top of the report. The strange thing was that the error message appeared some of the time, but not always! I tried many different solutions that I found on the internet, but nothing helped.
Then I opened the report in Report Designer with the same parameter as in Report Manager. The error I got there was different from the error in Report Manager:
Next I changed some expressions in the matrix groups, and the error message was gone! So the error was in a group expression.
My conclusion is that the error message had nothing at all to do with the cause of the error. Microsoft Reporting Services generates this error message at random. If you get this message, check the content of your report instead of all the other things people claim on the internet!
