When you build a report in SSRS2008R2 and you want the top header to stay in place while you scroll down, you would normally expect the option “Keep header Visible While Scrolling” to take care of that. Nothing could be further from the truth.
In SSRS2005 this option worked fine. You tick the checkbox and scroll down while the top bar stays in place. This is useful for larger reports that take up more than one screen. In SSRS2008R2 this option no longer works, even when you tick it.
What do you have to do to get this working?
Step 1 - Turn off the option Keep header visible while scrolling (right-click on the tablix, Tablix properties)
Step 2 - Go to the groupings of the tablix by left-clicking anywhere in the tablix. Then click the “Advanced Mode” option:
The grouping pane then looks like this:
Step 3 - Left-click the top “Static” group under ROW GROUPS. Look in the properties and set “FixedData” to “TRUE”.
If you view the report now, you see that the header row stays in place as you scroll down.
Strange that Microsoft has not fixed this in a Service Pack yet.
